REGISTER FOR THE ACT & SAT:
The next ACT test is February 9 and the registration deadline is January 11. Register for the ACT now @ www.act.org. The next SAT test is March 9 and the registration deadline is February 8. Register for the SAT now @ www.collegeboard.org/sat.
FREE TUTORING AVAILABLE:
Free tutoring is now available for Math and English after school from 2:45 - 3:45 PM in the Counseling Office. Math will be offered on Tuesday through Thursday, and English will be offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
17TH ANNUAL HBCU COLLEGE FESTIVAL:
The 2019 HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Unversities) College Festival will be held in DC on February 23, 2019. The Festival is free to attend, but registration is required @ www.alfredstreet.org. Over 70 colleges, universities, and student organizations will be in attendance. Register today! Information session will be held at Musselman High School on Tuesday, January 7 at 11:15 AM.
JAMES RUMSEY APPLICATIONS:
Current 10th grade students who are interested in attending James Rumsey for 11th and 12th grade should complete their James Rumsey application on JamesRumsey.com by February 1. Limited space is available for each program.
SCHEDULING FOR 12TH GRADE YEAR:
Scheduling for 12th grade year will begin on January 8. All 11th grade students will receive scheduling information during their English 11 class on January 8 or 9.
ACT-SAT TEST PREP CLASS:
There is still room in the ACT-SAT Test Prep Class for this semester. 2nd semester is open to 11th grade students, and will focus on ACT-SAT Math and English to prepare for the SAT this Spring. Contact your school counselor to add this class.
GOVERNOR'S HONORS ACADEMY:
Applications are now available for the Governor's Honors Academy on www.govschools.wv.gov. Applications must be completed and turned into the Counseling Office before February 1. The Governor's Honors Academy is open to 11th graders. Spend 3 weeks at Marshall University to learn about the college experience and even earn a scholarship. This is a great FREE opportunity, so don't wait!
GRADE 10 and 11 PEP MEETINGS:
PEP meetings are starting now with 10th and 11th grade students. This annual meeting will cover topics such as academic planning, career interests, and college information. To schedule a meeting, contact your counselor by email or by phone at (304) 299-1962.
